Primary care services provide the first point of contact in the healthcare system, acting as the ‘front door’ of the NHS.
Primary care includes general practice, community pharmacy, dental, and optometry (eye health) services.
Each GP surgery works within a Primary Care Network.
The NHS England confederation formed Primary Care Networks by in England from 1st July 2019
They consist of groups of GP practices that work closely together - along with other healthcare staff and organisations - providing joined up care to patients.
Their aim is to improve access and extend the range of services available to patients.
Each Primary Care Network has a group of educational leads who support their workforce.

Nursing Associates in Primary Care
Lauren is currently in her 2nd year of University studying to become a Registered Nursing Associate. Lauren is working within the Primary Care setting and she gives her journey of what it is like to earn while you learn and also the benefits of what a Nursing Associate can bring to the Primary Care workforce.
Administrative staff provide business support to clinical and non-clinical staff. They are usually the first point of contact between the patient and the general practice.
They assist patients to link in with community services, support systems, focus on health and wellbeing.
Work to help people understand and manage their own needs.
Clinical roles consist of health care professionals qualified in a particular field like * GP * Physicians Associate * Paramedics
Working in the field of Adult, Children, Learning Disability or Mental Health. Such as a * Qualified as a Registered General Nurse * Registered Nursing Associates * Health Care Support worker * Midwife
Dietitians are skilled at translating scientific and medical research related to food and health into practical guidance for the general public. For example you could work with people who want to lose weight or need to put on weight after an illness or have an eating disorder.
Work as part of the general practice team to improve value and outcomes from medicines and consult with and treat patients directly. This includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions, advice for those on multiple medicines and better access to health checks
People now have the opportunity to see a musculoskeletal (MSK) practitioner as their first point of contact via their GP. Practitioners can come from a range of allied health profession (AHP) disciplines including physiotherapy, osteopathy and podiatry.
